(00:02) Introduction to Gmail Signatures
In this video, we're going to create an email signature using Gmail. Some of us use Gmail personally, but also professionally with some of our school districts that use Gmail. So, we want to make sure that we know how to do that in Gmail.
(00:21) Accessing Gmail Settings
So, I'm in my um here's my inbox for my Gmail. I'm going to go to settings. This says gear. I want to see all the settings.
(00:44) Creating a New Signature
And email signature is a little ways down. And if you don't have one yet, it's easy to kind of overlook it, but it says signature. I have no signatures. I'm going to create a new one.

And then in this box here with all these editing, this is our text editor that we recognize in almost any tool we use anymore. So, I can go ahead and start typing my signature.
(01:11) Adding an Image (Extra Steps Required)
Now, Gmail's kind of weird. It wants a basically a URL. So, it wants your photo to be have a a web address. So it might be out there in some photo sharing place or in Google Drive.
(01:34) Preparing the Image in Google Docs to Add Alt Text
Um that's why like if you just do it once, it's no big deal. And then you have your signature. But you want to have a Google doc.

And now I want to add alt text here in this Google doc. And so I click on the image. I go to image options.

So here's my Google doc. I copied and paste that image or copied the image. Now I'm going to paste that image.
(02:34) Resizing and Formatting the Image
And so to re Now it's already got the all text in there. To resize it, when you click on it, you have the choice of small, medium, large, or original.
(02:52) Styling the Signature
I can do a little I can fancy this up just a little bit. I can make that bold. Um there's a few options on some um text. I can choose different font.

Once you have that all created, you need to go all the way down to your settings and hit save changes or it won't save it.

So, remember to follow the accessibility guidelines for your email signatures. Don't embed any text in any images.
