(00:01) Introduction to the Digital Accessibility Resource Hub

Hi, this video is to introduce you to and show you around our digital accessibility resource hub from the accessibility team at ESU10. This resource hub is meant to support all employees at ESU10 on our journey towards making our digital content more accessible. If you watch the introductory video, you know that our deadline is coming up this coming April in in terms of ESU10 becoming compliant with the federal ruling.

Nobody can have everything fixed by then, but we're going to be doing our best to moving forward designing with accessibility in mind, with our help of course, and also fixing the things that are the most priority of things that we need to fix. And so we'll talk about that as well throughout the course of these next few weeks.

(00:49) Overview of the Website and Navigation

But first we wanted to show you this website so you can figure out how to find things there. So the address is a11y.esu10.org. In case you're wondering, A11Y is a shorthand version of accessibility because there's 11 characters between the A and the Y. We wanted to make it easy for you guys to get to and remember.

Our website is designed into the why, the what, and the how. And so you can click on each one of those to find out more information. The why is again the why are we doing this? Yes, there's a ruling. Yes, we need to be compliant, but it's also the right thing to do because we want all of our users, regardless of their abilities, because we don't know. We want all of our users to have the same experience when using our digital content.

(01:27) The “What” Section: Taking Inventory

The what is the things that we need to consider. So maybe taking an inventory. So you can click on that.

(01:46) The “How” Section: Resources and Support

And then the how. If I click on the how page, it's going to take me to a whole bunch of resources organized by kind of the category. So, there's general resources, stuff dealing with color. We're going to have tips every week. We're going to have videos all the time that'll be stored here as well. But if you're looking specifically for information about color, information about fonts, information about alternative text, you can find those on the resources page.

And then you also can access um all those things up here. And if you hover, you can see for the how, for example, we're going to have weekly tips. We're going to have office hours, which by the way, right now are set for 8 to 9 on Mondays. And then we're going to house our videos here. We will host some workshops that would be in in person, but also be recorded.

(02:23) About Page and Contacting the Team

And we have some guides specifically for websites. So if I'm going to click on the about just for now, just so you know who to contact, our introductory video is there. We have our email addresses for the people that are on the accessibility team. Any one of us can answer questions. So, please visit our website, click around, ask questions, email, pop in at office hours. We're here to help.
